Born in Canton, TX in 1944, Mr. Brown began his career in public schools as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher in Dayton, TX during the 1965-66 school year. Brown earned his bachelors and masters degree from Sam Houston State University. He later moved to Daingerfield in 1970 where he served in progressively more responsible administrative roles as Director of Vocational Technical Education, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent.
Mr. Brown and his wife, Patsy, came to Henderson in February of 1997. He worked in several capacities here, including Director of Maintenance, Assistant Superintendent, and a brief period as Interim Superintendent prior to his retirement in June 2003. Patsy retired from her position as Director of Instruction and Community Relations with Tatum ISD. Since retirement they have remained active through Calvary Baptist Church, the lives of their grandchildren, and traveling on occasion with church groups and other friends.
After retirement in 2003, Brown has continued to assist public schools on an occasional basis including some consulting work through Region VII ESC and a short period as Interim Superintendent for Sabine ISD. Patsy recently began some consulting work with Region IV ESC assisting teachers pursuing alternative certification.
The Browns live on their small farm outside the City of Henderson where they particularly enjoy visits from friends and family.
