Kindergarten Counseling Center
Welcome to the Kindergarten Counseling Center web page! This is a work in progress and will give only basic information at this time. Continue to visit the page, as more items will be added throughout the school year.
At Kindergarten, we want our children to develop academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. We want them to understand who they are, as well as learn about and accept others. Guidance lessons are given each week, using the SETCLAE (Self-Esteem Through Culture Leads to Academic Excellence) curriculum developed by Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu, author, educational consultant, and motivational speaker.
Children may see the counselor individually or in small groups by parent, teacher, or principal referral. They may also decide on their own that they would like to visit with the counselor. The counselor emphasizes self-control, anger management, and conflict resolution. She talks with the children, their parents, their teachers, and the principal, as necessary, regarding specific needs of the children.
