Awards
To date, the Education Foundation has awarded eight rounds of grants, disbursing
over $260,000 to teachers and staff to be used toward innovative educational programs and projects. Additionally,
the Foundation awards the L.L. Hale Family Scholarship, established by Mr. James Hale in honor of his family.
This scholarship provides five HHS graduates with $5,000 per year scholarships for four years. Sixteen graduates
are currently attending college on Hale Scholarships
Events
During the fall semester, the annual HISD Education Foundation Gala is held. This event is
a fun event attended by the community and is a major fund-raiser for the Foundation.
The Foundation also sponsors the annual Tradition of Excellence Banquet each spring, which honors the top ten percent
of the HHS graduating class, along with each student's most influential teacher. The Banquet is a result of the Foundation's
mission to support student achievement and encourage staff excellence. This year's Banquet (2007-2008) will be the tenth
annual, and to date more than 200 students have been honored.
