District Programs
Health Services
HISD will provide vision, hearing and state-mandated scoliosis (curvature of the spine) screenings.
Language Services
HISD will provide an interpreter/translator for program information (including material in a student's native/home language), program activities, parent training, and parental involvement through flexible opportunities. In addition, accomodations will be made for parents with hearing impairments upon request. If you should need help in any of these areas, please contact your campus principal.
Meals
Hot breakfasts and lunches are served at all HISD schools, with reduced-price or free meals available to those who qualify. Meal tickets are available in $5 denominations.
Other Programs
Advanced placement and gifted-talented classes, computer classes, driver education, early childhood education, special education (minimal to major handicapping conditions), vocational and career education, full participation in UIL competition (both athletically and academically), Texas Scholars, Head Start, fine arts, foreighn languages and community education.
